Los Angeles 1928. During a cloudless day, single mother Christine Collins returns from work to find her nine-year-old son gone. She calls the police department to assist to find her son.
Five months later, a boy shows up and claims that he is her son, found by the police. The police want to improve their image by successfully finding the boy. However, Christine insists that he is not her son. In front of lots of media, the police try to dismiss her as a liar and being hysterical.
She realizes that the police have returned a stranger to her in an attempt to bring an end to the public complaints about their handling of the case. Christine still keeps searching to find answers even when she faces a corrupt government.
This movie concentrates on a working class woman’s story to reflect the situation of Los Angeles government and police corruption. They seek profits at any cost…even killing people.
Although Christine didn’t find her son in the end, her conflicts with the police provide justice by exposing the scandal.
